An Artists Estate has followed me through the process of handling the estate of the artist Dave Pearson, since his death in 2008.

During that time I've learned a lot about the complexities of managing an artist's estate, and the dangers and pitfalls of dealing with estate taxes in particular. I'll keep this blog on line in order to help those who find themselves in a similar situation.

Now, at the beginning of 2023, we've entered a completely new phase of managing the work. Dave left behind 20,000 pieces of artwork. Much of this was in the form of sketches and notes that he would never have sold or wanted to exhibit. I estimate that about 4,000 artworks were vital and important enough to present for sale. All the income raised has gone to Dave Pearson's son as part of his inheritance. 

Since 2008 I have sold roughly 800 of Dave's paintings, drawings, prints and reliefs. His studio has now become the house where I live with my family. However, the basement has been converted into a gallery showing (and selling) the remainder of Dave Pearson's smaller works (photographs below).
